I have to say, I just tried the new Deviantart "Eclipse" thing, and it is really bad. IF they introduce it as a compulsory feature, it will kill DeviantArt for many artists here, maybe forever... Many of my art friends left this website after dA's CORE update in 2015, and I can say for sure that the same thing will happen again with "Eclipse". As long as it remains an option, then it will not be the choice for most. The interface is hard to use, slow, chunky, blocky, over-crowded, making it difficult to operate and navigate, especially on desktop platform where most digital artists do their work-  not to mention also, it looks like a really poorly constructed rip-off of Artstation. Switching the "Eclipse" feature off and returning back to the old DA was a joy.

While I'm pleased that dA "Eclipse" has the option for a dark-theme browsing mode (which has been requested for literal YEARS without the dA staff actually bothering to listen to it's users), it's not nearly enough to counter all of it's flaws. I'd much rather prefer the dA website designers to just include a dark-theme option for a the normal dA website, and avoid trying and failing to push a whole different format on everyone--  not to mention also,,, "Eclipse"s removal of custom decoration box codes from people's profiles is a MASSIVE outrage from dA users communities who have spent literal hours putting the resources and work together into creating their own unique page designs.

So I'm curious... What is the strangest/experimental/darkest/noisiest/quietest/surreal/goriest/un-common/minimal type of music you people enjoy listening to? It can be any genre, digital or analogue, any time-period, any message, anything at all that can be called an aural experience... I'm looking to find new stuff to listen to.

Send me some youtube links, and I'll rate their relative oddness on a taste scale of 1~100 (And bear in mind, I enjoy listening to some weird fucking stuff, the weirder, the better )

Some examples of odd noise I like, I wonder how far down the list you can listen down to;

Does anyone else ever stop and look around at big crowds of people, and you just suddenly have a existential melancholic instant where you realise every random person you've ever seen and walked past has an inconceivably complex inner monologue and important memories and family and anxieties and personal achievements/defeats and maybe a first romantic kiss and a broken heart but you’ll never know any of it and every human life is really nothing more/less than a tiny microcosmic part of an expansive aspect of an infinite fractal consciousness but, oh, they’ve just walked into a store or crossed the road and you’ll never know their name or even see them again, and you’ll never ever know just what they were thinking of right at that second, and the fact that the only reason why your own entire perception of that one random human's existence relies on the absurd idea that your infinite consciousness/imagination which is currently experiencing itself as a 3-dimensionally limited human is a real thing with the power to somehow exist at just the right moment in the entire history of this universe to experience that thought happen for a brief couple of seconds...?

Not only that, but also the realisation that there are a lot of really shitty humans (often people with political/corporate/military power status) who go through life believing the lives of others somehow belong to them, plotting with their existence as if the lives of humans in other countries are nothing more than a bargaining chip for extra power...? Because when people in other countries die as a result of unjust political/corporate/military decisions, I doubt any of those people pulling the strings actually think about the victims as real humans in the first place

This is something that has dawned on me for a very long time in my 9 years here, and I notice other people posting about it all the time now. Deviantart is a horrible place for art. It's also becoming a horrible place for artists with original content ever since dA's "Core" update in 2015.

It seems like the only art which ever seems to get any kind of recognition here anymore is fan-art, memes, porn stolen from fetish/adult websites, or artists who already have followers in the 1,000's without having to give any feedback on other people's art, or involve themselves in DA's community.

Hardly anything is ever added into the mix, barely anything new really gets out there, because it seems like when 80% of people here see art, they might think it looks cool, but they keep on scrolling because it isn't FNAF or Undertale or Pokemon or MLP or Homestuck, or foot-fetish stuff, or whatever anime is hot right now. In all honesty, it's beginning to feel like one giant elitist club where people have no choice but to make the same fanart over, and over, and over, just to feel like they fit in.

Talented artists who create original art are avoiding Deviantart altogether, and I'm noticing a lot of my friends are leaving because they don't see the point in being active here anymore, let alone buying overpriced dA premium membership.

"Well then, just do art for yourself here! Why don't you make art that just makes you happy?"
.... But doesn't that defeat the whole point of joining an art website in the first place? Do artists really want to spend hours and hours on one drawing just to put it in a dark quiet room with no one to see it? Why is this what creative people who make original art are honestly supposed to believe?

Without any new ideas or concepts, I feel like there won't be any new things to make fanart out of. How many cartoons/anime/videogames that have come out in recent years have been sequels, or remakes, or blatant fan-service purposefully designed just to squeeze as much money as possible from the disposable income of their die-hard fandoms? A LOT more than there are original ideas, that's for certain. When people come back to this website in a year or two (if DA still exists by then) and notices that everything here is boring, stale and over-done, this will probably the reason why. Fresh ideas need support... If we keep on taking original art and ideas for granted, it will be almost as if they never existed in the first place.

On a side note, a Youtube channel known as EmpLemon recently made an excellent video explaining a similar situation involving the reason why Youtube has become so fucking awful. I highly recommend watching. -->
